This week served up some real attitude—blustery winds, tough intervals, and one beast of a treadmill run. The schedule was loaded, and while one session got scratched, every choice was intentional. With two quality workouts, a strategic rest day, and fueling insights galore, I’m wrapping Week 11 feeling proud, a little tired, and very ready for what’s next.
✅ Tuesday, 03/25/2025 – Quads, Chaos & Comebacks
Twelve 1K intervals at 10K pace. Tough but telling. Interval #9 had me questioning everything—quads seized, confidence dipped—but I regrouped and finished strong. Not every run needs to be perfect to be powerful.
❌ Wednesday, 03/26/2025 – Rest Instead of Ride
The scheduled indoor bike session got bumped in favor of full recovery. No regrets—my body needed it.
✅ Thursday, 03/27/2025 – We Are Not Amused (The Wind Is a Pain in the Glutes)
This tempo session—3 x 3-mile efforts—tested both mind and muscle. Winds clocked in over 22 km/h and didn’t let up for a second. The first block felt strong, but things got chaotic in the middle. I adjusted, refocused, and leaned on cadence more than pace. Lesson learned? Not every run is about speed—sometimes, it’s about rhythm, resolve, and riding out the storm.
Friday, 03/28/2025 – Strength Training
Lower body strength session in the books. A weekly non-negotiable that supports my longevity and keeps the pistons pumping efficiently.
Saturday, 03/29/2025 – Calf Call: A Strategic Pass
Woke up with a twinge in my right calf and made the call to skip the day’s easy run. With a 120-minute long run on deck, preserving power made more sense than pushing through. Rest is strategy.
Sunday, 03/30/2025 – Drum Buddy, Dates & the Treadmill Triumph
I feared 120 minutes on the treadmill would be mind-numbing, but this run proved otherwise. Pacing was locked in thanks to my 145 BPM Drum Buddy (I locked in at 155 SPM though), fueling was on point, and I wrapped it all with a late push to 6.0 mph. Best part? I felt fresh at the end and—bonus—no calf issues.
Themes & Takeaways
- The wind doesn’t care about your workout, but you adapt anyway.
- Recovery is essential—and strategic skipping can be smart.
- Fueling matters—and I’m dialing in the timing and sources.
- Cadence, not just pace, can carry you when things go sideways.
- Treadmill sessions can be triumphs, especially when you stay mentally engaged.
