Weekly Recap – Week 12 (March 31 – April 6, 2025)

Time Trial Triumph & Training Turn-Up

Week 12, that’s a wrap!
This one was special—a week of solid execution, mental sharpness, and a defining 3K Time Trial that didn’t just test fitness but lit the fuse on what’s next. Every session was dialed in with purpose, and the payoff? Big.

Week at a Glance

Training Log – Fatigued but Fierce: 16x200m Repeats
I showed up feeling less than fresh but delivered the goods. Fueling was on point (shout-out to dates!) and I locked in on effort. Cadence was sharp and even with early-day fatigue, the last intervals were just as fast as the first. Mental toughness FTW.

Upper Body Strength Session
Kept it functional and balanced. Supported arm drive, posture, and overall run form.

Training Log – Playing the Long Game (in Short Tempo Blocks)
Challenged myself to nudge the pace slightly above the prescribed range and paid close attention to form and rhythm. Drum Buddy kept my cadence smooth and steady, even as I faced headwinds. This was a smart, intentional workout.

Lower Body Strength Session
Targeted glutes, hamstrings, calves, and core. Important for injury prevention and maintaining running economy.

Training Log – Practice Makes Progress
A Zone 2 cruise under moody skies and breezy headwinds. Executed my fueling plan (MCT oil + Nuun) and ran by feel. I kept cadence tight with Drum Buddy, and though my HR was slightly elevated, effort stayed consistent.

Training Log – 3K Time Trial: Steady Fire, Strong Finish
A banner day! I hit a 3K PR pace (5:35/km GAP) into a strong headwind. Perfect fueling, solid mental game, and metronomic cadence sealed the deal. A massive confidence boost and clear sign my fitness is leveling up.
Yoga session followed later in the day to restore and reset.

What I Learned This Week

  • My fueling strategy is working.
  • I can run strong even when I feel flat.
  • Shorter workouts offer a place to experiment and fine-tune.
  • The Drum Buddy cadence system is here to stay.
  • Headwinds are annoying… but beatable.

Looking Ahead

My virtual coach has updated my training paces post-Time Trial, and they are SPICY. I expect things to get tougher from here, but this week’s performance shows I’m ready to level up.
